Sue Hop

Sue Lam Hop, 95, of San Jose, California passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026. Sue was born on February 12th, 1931 to Yee Shee Lum and Yim Lam in San Francisco, California. She was raised in San Francisco and was a graduate of Lowell High School. Sue worked at Blums Candy packing chocolates and preparing holiday baskets. She married Yee Hop on May 3, 1953 at the Chinese Presbyterian Church in San Francisco. In 1954, she gave birth to Beverly Jean and in 1956 to Ronald. Sue retired after working in accounts payable for Matson Navigation and then Kaiser Engineers and Kaiser Cement. She loved spending time at the family get togethers and was known for her fried prawns and crunch cake. She loved attending her grandsons’ sports games and marveled at their success. Sue loved shopping and going on vacation. She is survived by her son Ronald (wife Barbara), grandsons Randall (wife Tram) and Stephen (wife Nancy), son-in-law William, and great grandchildren Kaitlyn, Tyler, Caleb and Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by her husband Yee, brothers George and Charles, sisters Jane, Amy, Ida, and Barbara, and daughter Beverly.
