July 5, 1940— March 4, 2026
Yukon, OK
Sue Ellen Elliott, 85, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away on March 3, 2026. Born on July 5, 1940, in Enid, Oklahoma, she was the youngest of seven daughters born to Henry and Rose Marie Apel. She lived in Enid until she married Charles Grant Parks on January 24, 1959. The couple lived briefly in Corpus Christi, Texas, before settling in Oklahoma City, where they raised their three daughters.
Sue was a devoted wife and homemaker with a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ. Known for her chipper attitude, she loved telling jokes and occasionally pulling pranks on those around her. She enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with friends, was a passionate fan of Elvis Presley, and followed OU Sooners football with special enthusiasm during the Barry Switzer era, often moved to tears by their victories. One of her greatest joys was tending her garden and preparing fried chicken and fried okra for family and friends, who treasured her cooking.
After the death of her first husband, Sue married Jim Elliott on October 20, 1989. They shared many happy years together until his passing on June 15, 2016. In her later years, she found delight in coloring intricate pages with crayons, creating hundreds of beautiful works until arthritis prevented her from continuing.
Sue was preceded in death by both husbands, her parents, and all six of her sisters. She is survived by her three daughters, Bekye Rackley of Yukon, Oklahoma, Rena Robbins and husband Gary of Oklahoma City, and JoAnn Spicer of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren, Rochelle Freeman, Matthew Cook, Chris Cook, Amanda Glasco, Michelle Parks, Cody Cook, and Kristi Rackley; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.
