Stewart Ian Campbell, a distinguished career military man and beloved family member, passed away on March 4, 2026, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Born on July 4, 1961, in Montreal, Canada, Stewart lived a life defined by dedication, honor, and an unwavering commitment to service.

He began his military career as an officer in the Canadian Army before joining the United States Navy, where he served with distinction for more than 14 years. Among his many honors were the Southwest Asian Service Medal, .45 Caliber Marksman, National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, M-14 Rifle Marksman, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Medal, Battle “E” Ribbon, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. He served overseas as a Navy Chaplain Bodyguard, demonstrating both courage and compassion.

A lifelong learner, Stewart attended John Abbott College in Montreal and graduated from Providence College in Rhode Island at the age of 53. Those who knew him remember him as a funny, kind, generous, and loving gentleman—well-read, well-traveled, loyal, and devoted. He showed a special tenderness toward animals, children, and the elderly, touching many lives with his warmth and empathy. After his military service, he continued to serve others through his work with the Canadian TSA, maintaining the same integrity and dedication that marked his entire career.

Stewart is survived by his loving wife, Sherry A. Kachanis, and his cherished children, Sean Campbell of Evergreen, Colorado, Kyra Campbell of Montreal, Canada, and Christopher Campbell of Montreal, Canada. He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Campbell, and his mother, Bridgette Grimes Campbell. He will be remembered fondly and missed deeply by all who had the privilege to know him.
