Steven Michael Sladich Obituary March 5, 2026 - Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home

Oakville

It is with great sadness that we announce that Steve passed away suddenly in his sleep on March 5. Born in Oakville, Ontario, to Josie (Paljunac) Sladich and his late father, Nikola Sladich, Steve was a steadfast source of support to his mother, Josie; a loving brother to Nancy and Peter Ortenburg; and a very proud uncle to his niece and nephew, Charlotte and Matthew. A graduate of the former QEP High School, Steve loved Bronte and valued the many friendships he built in Oakville over the years.Steve was diagnosed in his late 30s with bipolar mood disorder; this understanding helped him better manage the challenges he faced. The Equilibrium Halton Support Group became a cornerstone in his life, where he found acceptance, understanding, and community. In turn, Steve generously shared his own experiences to help others maintain their balance, both as an active participant and as a supportive friend to those facing similar struggles. Steve will be remembered as a loyal and kind person who was always willing to help a friend.Steve loved music, especially classic rock 'n' roll, watching football on Sundays, and faithfully believing in the Leafs. In lieu of flowers, we are collecting donations for Equilibrium so that this volunteer-run, non-profit organization can continue to support members of the community. Donations can be sent by email transfer to nortenburg@gmail.com with "Equilibrium Donation" in the subject line.
