Steven E Hovinga

Steven E. Hovinga, born October 6, 1960 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Raymond and Fern (Russell) Hovinga, passed away suddenly on March 6, 2026.

A devoted father and grandfather, Steve was known for his strong work ethic and deep commitment to his family. He worked for many years at Attwood Corporation in Lowell, Michigan. His greatest pride and joy were his children, Shane and Ashley, and he lived for the time spent with them. That love grew even deeper when he became “Bappa Steve” to his four grandchildren, Keeghan, Alliana, Chandler, and Remington. He cherished every moment with them and created memories they will carry always.

In his free time, Steve could often be found in his garage working on one of his many cars or offering his knowledge and help to family and friends. He had a lifelong passion for the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing. Though he sometimes joked about his luck in the deer woods, he found joy in any time spent in nature, whether pursuing a trophy or simply sitting beside a river or lake with a fishing line in the water.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Fern Hovinga, his former wife Lisa (Adgate) Hovinga, and his brother-in-law Thomas Briggs. He is survived by his children, Ashley (Cody) Muste and Shane (Christyal) Hovinga; his grandchildren, Keeghan, Alliana, Chandler, and Remington; his sister Marlene Briggs; his brother Alan (Carol) Hovinga; and his much-loved nieces and nephews.
