Steven Progler ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home - Standish Chapel on Mar. 17, 2026.Steven Bradley Progler Sr., known affectionately as Captain Steve, passed away on March 9, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on November 18, 1952, in Springfield, Ohio, he was a man whose life was as vast and spirited as the great outdoors he so dearly loved.Captain Steve's journey through life was marked by the joy he found in the simplest of pleasures: the quiet of the woods, the thrill of a catch, and the warmth of a kitchen filled with the aromas of his cooking. He was a man whose hands were as skilled at tying a fly as they were at strumming a guitar, a testament to his love for music that rivaled his passion for nature. His formative years were spent in Adrian, Michigan, where he attended Washington Elementary School followed by Madison High School. It was there that the foundations of his adventurous spirit, passion for music, and friendly demeanor were laid, traits that would come to define him in the years to follow. After high school, Steven's entrepreneurial spirit took flight. He was a man of many talents, and he poured his wisdom and energy into various ventures, earning the respect and admiration of his peers. His involvement in associations and communities throughout his career was a reflection of his commitment to fellowship and progress.Steven was father to Mollie Hill, Candice (Kim) Progler-Thomsen, and Steven Bradley (Katherine) Progler Jr. Captain Steve's spirit of adventure and entrepreneurship played a defining role in shaping and guiding them into the individuals they have become. His grandchildren, Morgan (Mariah), Siena, Lumenn, and Caspian, as well as his great-grandchild, Paisley, will carry on his zest for life.He is survived by his sisters, Leslie Massengill and Lynette Kube. Steven was preceded in death by his parents John J. and Roberta C. (Higley) Progler and his brother, James Progler, with whom he now rests in peace.Captain Steve's life was a testament to the power of friendliness, the pursuit of adventure, and the value of wisdom. His legacy is not just in the success of his ventures or the memories of his exploits in the wild, but in the lives he touched. He was a captain not only by name but by nature, steering his life with purpose and leaving us with a compass of memories to navigate our own.As we bid farewell to Captain Steve, we do so with memories of the times we shared with him. His story does not end here, for it is etched in the entrepreneurial spirit of his children, and the beauty of the natural world he so cherished. Captain Steve's voyage through life was a remarkable one, and the wake of his journey will be felt for generations to come.Memorial service will take place on Saturday March 21, 2026, at 1:00pm at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home Standish with Minister Karen Orban presiding.
