A memorial service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 1:00pm at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 214 S. Main St. Perry. The Goodine family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 11:00am.Born on September 29, 1945, in Hartford, Connecticut, to the late Francis Donald Goodine and Marcia Elizabeth Linnell, Steve's life was marked by his generous spirit, wisdom, and intelligence.Steve spent his professional life as a skilled electrician, a trade that he not only excelled in but also shared with others as an instructor at Lansing Community College. His dedication to his craft was paralleled only by his commitment to his family and friends. Steve leaves behind a legacy of laughter and love, remembered by his children, Stacey Goodine (Mike), Steve (Jessica) Goodine, Shawn Goodine, and Shannon Newton. His memory will also be cherished by his siblings, David (Elizabeth) Goodine and Joanne (Jim) Klug.A grandfather and great-grandfather, Steve took great joy in his role, leaving behind fond memories for his grandchildren, Alexis (Joe), Tyler (Emily), Alan (Hannah), Savannah (Trey), Chase, Chelsie, Faith (Blaire), Hunter, and Payton, and his great-grandchildren, Jackson, Stellah, Ameliah, Magnoliah, Jameson, Lenora, Gabriel, Nash, and Sadie. Each of them was touched by his playful spirit and the wisdom he imparted.Steve's love for the outdoors was evident to all who knew him. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, finding peace and solace in nature. His passion for drag racing, mud bogs, and being in the barn working on various projects showcased his interests. Steve was the kind of person who could strike up a conversation with anyone and often did. He loved shooting the breeze and enjoying a beer with friends and strangers alike.Known for his great sense of humor, Steve was truly a character. His laughter and jokes were contagious, and he had a unique ability to lighten the mood wherever he went. He loved chatting with anyone willing to engage, and his barn was often a hub of conversation and camaraderie.Above all, Steve was a man with a great heart. He would help anyone in need, whether he knew them or not, and his generosity knew no bounds. His wisdom and intelligence were evident not only in his work but also in the way he lived his life and interacted with those around him.Steve's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched.
