Steve Shanton

Steve Shanton, 62, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 9, 2026. He died peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours. Born on December 25, 1963, in Louisville, Kentucky, Steve was the son of the late John Lynn Shanton II and Shirley Ann (Begeman) Shanton. The family lived for many years in Frederick County, Maryland, before moving to the area in the early 1980s.

Steve was an avid motorcyclist who cherished his Harley, and he found great joy in scuba diving and caring for animals. Above all, he treasured his family. He is survived by his children, Zachary Shanton and wife Courtney, Cameron Shanton, and Hannah Neibecker and husband Andrew Neibecker; the mother of his children, Angela Denise Shanton; and his beloved grandchildren, Sophia, Rowan, Charlotte, and Cooper. He is also survived by his brother, John Lynn Shanton III and wife Heather, his sister, Kimberly Schaub and husband Alex, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Steve held a deep affection for the community of Thurmont, where he spent many meaningful years growing and raising his family.
