Steve Porter, 79, of El Campo, Texas, passed away on March 13, 2026. Born on July 25, 1946, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to Harry Eugene Porter and Verlee (Lee) Asman Porter, both WWII Navy veterans, Steve spent his early years in Savannah, Georgia, before being raised in Houston. He graduated from Memorial High School, where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, and later became a proud University of Houston Cougar. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Master of Business Administration from Houston Christian University.
On December 1, 1979, Steve married the love of his life, Nancy Whitehead Porter. Together they raised four sons who were the center of their world. A man of deep faith, Steve lived with quiet strength, intellectual curiosity, and unwavering devotion to his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joe. Steve is survived by his wife, Nancy; his sons Kirk (Tanya), Mike (Melanie), John (Blair), and Chris (Anastasia); his sister Christy Thompson and her husband Steve of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his brother-in-law Charles Whitehead and wife Diane of Kyle, Texas; his aunt Rebecca Martin of Spring, Texas; and his beloved grandchildren Jake, Abigail, Sophie, Harrison, Caleb, Thom, Sam, Davy, and Juniper. He also leaves behind cherished nieces, nephews, and many dear friends who will remember his kind heart and steady presence.
