Steve L. Latta

Steve Lee Latta, 68, of Bunker Hill, Indiana, passed away on March 7, 2026, at his residence.

Born on July 20, 1957, in Miami County, Indiana, to Robert and Gloria (Walton) Latta, Steve spent his life building with his hands as a lifelong carpenter and proud member of Carpenter’s Local 615. In 1982 he met the love of his life, Pam, and the two shared nearly forty devoted years together until her passing. Steve found great joy in NHRA drag racing, attending the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis for many years, as well as visiting classic car shows. He loved listening to music and attending concerts with friends at the Honeywell Center, and he remained a loyal fan of the Miami Dolphins and Indiana University basketball.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Chad) Kropczynski, and his grandsons, Isaiah and Leo Kropczynski. Steve is also survived by his sisters, Jean (Jim) Myers of Bradenton, Florida, and Deb Eck of California, and his brothers, Randy Latta of Peru, Indiana, and Brad (Phyllis) Latta of Peru. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Cheryl Kocher, his brother Robert “Bobby” Eck, and his beloved wife Pam.
