Stephen Martin Fisher
January 23, 1946— March 10, 2026
St. Joseph, MO
Stephen Martin Fisher, 80, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Born on January 23, 1946, in St. Joseph to Bernard Dennis and Rita Mary (Meyer) Fisher, he graduated from King City R-1 in 1964.
Steve served his country with distinction in the Navy during the Vietnam War, serving aboard the USS Topeka and the USS Stormes. After his military service, he found deep purpose in carpentry and home repair. For more than four decades he served as a respected minister with the Assemblies of God, devoting himself to Royal Rangers and as a deacon at Central Assembly. His guidance, compassion, and quiet faith touched countless lives. He also traveled on two mission trips to Nicaragua to help build churches.
On July 28, 1973, Steve married the love of his life, Kay, at the Co-Cathedral in St. Joseph. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who never met a stranger. He cherished time spent fishing, finding peace in nature, and drew daily strength and wisdom from reading the Bible. Above all, he loved his family deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Bernece Huerta. Steve is survived by his wife Kay; children Bradley Fisher (Rebecca), Mark Douglas Fisher, and Melanie Hollingsworth; grandson Noah; siblings Charles Fisher (Linda), Kathleen Fisher, and Mary Wahl (Karl); and many nieces and nephews. His memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration for all who knew him.
