Stephen M. Sommer, Jr.

Stephen M. Sommer, Jr., formerly of Walnutport, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Lehighton. He was the devoted husband of Patricia A. (Heckman) Sommer, who preceded him in death this past October. Born in Stiles on September 22, 1934, Steve was the son of the late Stephen M. Sommer, Sr., and Hermina (Sommer) Sommer.

Steve spent the majority of his working life at the former Lehigh Valley Dairy. A longtime resident of the area, he was a former member of St. John the Baptist Church in Whitehall. He will be remembered as a loving family man who cherished time with those closest to him.

He is survived by his daughters, Debra and her husband Glenn Parry of Selbyville, Delaware, and Donna Sommer and her husband Mark Ellis of Alburtis; grandchildren Jessica Kern (Ryan), Joshua Parry (Dawn), Emily Ellis, and Reed Ellis; great-grandchildren Ariel, Leyla, Zoey, Jocelyn, and Taylor; great-great-grandchildren Mayson and Kinsley; and siblings Joseph Sommer and Mary Ann Knoff. He was predeceased by his siblings Hermina, Rose, Elsie, and Freda.

A private family celebration of life will be held.
