Stephen Windes ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Keepes Funeral Home on Mar. 9, 2026.Stephen Lynn Windes, 72, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Lawrenceville County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, IL surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on July 26, 1953, in Mount Carmel, Illinois, the son of Howard and Lucy (Gawthorp) Windes.Stephen had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed spending time fishing. He truly cherished the moments he shared with his family. Stephen also had a strong passion for cars and loved anything related to them. He spent many years working as a security guard where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. Stephen had a love for animals, especially his dog who was a cherished companion. He will be missed by his family and friends.Stephen will be remembered by his daughters, Micah Hallbeck, and Stormi Grundon; five grandchildren, Lykon, Avaleigh, Koga, Ezra, and Briar; sister, Diana Windes and husband, Wayne of Allendale; brother, Billy Windes of Mount Carmel; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.Stephen was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tommy and Charles Windes; one sister, Karen Odom.In keeping with Stephen's wishes, no formal services will be held at this time.Keepes Funeral Home is serving the family with the arrangements.
