Washington, PA

Stephen John Morgan passed away on March 12, 2026, after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. Born on November 29, 1951, in Washington, Pennsylvania, to the late Ellis A. Morgan and Mary Temas of Bentleyville, Steve lived a life grounded in faith, service, and deep devotion to family.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lyn Morgan; his son, Brian (Jess) Morgan; and daughter, Allison (Dave) Hillberry. He leaves behind grandsons Cody Tyler Hillberry (Amanda), Collin William Hillberry, and Colton Brayden Hillberry (Dessa), as well as great-granddaughter Keaton Avery Hillberry, daughter of Collin, and great-grandson Rowan Oliver Hillberry, son of Cody. He is also survived by his brother, Albert (Gail) Morgan, a niece, and a nephew.

Steve served as a Bentleyville Police Officer and later as a California University of Pennsylvania Police Officer. He worked in security and hazmat roles at the Volkswagen plant in New Stanton and held other security positions throughout his career. In his younger years, he volunteered as a firefighter with the Bentleyville Fire Department. He cherished his retirement, spending quiet days on the porch birdwatching and tending to his yard with his tractor. Above all, family was everything to him. He took great pride in watching his son Brian grow into a fine man and in the life and career he built. He treasured the many gatherings on his daughter Allison and son-in-law Dave’s farm with the entire family, often expressing how blessed he felt to witness his three grandsons become men and to hold a special place in his heart for his two granddaughters. The arrival of his great-granddaughter and great-grandson brought him profound joy.

A man of strong Christian faith, Steve was married at Calvary Baptist Church in Washington and attended services whenever he was able. He found deep meaning in serving with the church’s team that assisted the homeless in the city, as the needs of the poor remained close to his heart. He read devotions daily and placed his trust firmly in God and Jesus, his Saviour.
