Stephanie Green ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Cremation Society of Minnesota (First Memorial Funeral Chapel)- Minneapolis on Mar. 12, 2026.Stephanie Jo Green, a devoted mother, beloved daughter and sister, entrepreneur, creative spirit, cherished friend and loving partner, passed away on March 9, 2026, after battling an aggressive cancer with ferocity and courage. She was born September 2, 1977, in Fargo, North Dakota.Stephanie grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo South High School in 1995. She attended St. Cloud State University before ultimately graduating from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology.Growing up, she treasured time with family at her much-loved grandmother's home on Pelican Lake in northern Minnesota.Following college, Steph opened Shu on Grand Avenue in St. Paul, owning and operating the high-end footwear shop for nearly fifteen years and building it into one of the area's most respected and frequented shoe stores. Never one to be afraid of change or to stop learning, she later made a remarkable mid-career transition into coding and UX design, eventually becoming Vice President at a Minneapolis tech firm, where she led digital initiatives and managed complex projects for major corporations. She was deeply proud of mastering a new field and was always happy to lend her skills to build websites or create and manage digital content for friends. While Steph was proud of her professional accomplishments, her greatest joy was being a mother to her daughters, Quinn (15) and Hadley (13). She anticipated their needs, celebrated their dreams, and created a loving home full of creativity and encouragement. She beamed with pride at Quinn's accomplishments in softball and academics, and at her natural ability to build friendships wherever she went. Steph cherished Hadley's gentle and thoughtful spirit, the way she showed up for her friends, her unique creativity, and her sharp sense of humor.Steph treasured her friendships and the extended family they created together. Annual camping trips to Madeline Island, travels to Hawaii and Minnesota's North Shore, and more recent adventures to New Zealand and Alaska with close friends were highlights she cherished deeply. She loved gathering with friends for brunch, attending concerts, and sharing good food, conversation, and laughter. Steph had an eye for beauty and great taste, and she delighted in the small luxuries and experiences that made life feel rich.Creativity was central to her life. At home she enjoyed knitting, weaving, and many forms of craft, often working alongside her daughters on new projects. She was also an avid reader.Steph cared deeply about the world around her. She was passionate about environmental stewardship and believed strongly in community, inclusion, and showing up for others. She volunteered her time and energy to causes she believed in and could always be counted on to step forward when help was needed.Steph's life was defined by curiosity, creativity, resilience, and deep love for the people around her. She had a snarky sense of humor, a distinct laugh that stays with you, and a very unique light about her that lives on in her daughters. She will be remembered for her generosity, warmth, the way she brought people together, and how much love she had to give.Stephanie is survived by her beloved daughters, Quinn and Hadley; her father, John and special friend Diane; her mother, Cindy, and Cindy's partner, Ron; and her brother, Derek (Khara), along with their children, Effie and Cash. She is also survived by her former husband, Tom Stromsodt, and his fiancée, Sara, who remained an important part of the extended family. In recent years, Steph shared her life with her loving partner, Erich Andren, who cared for her devotedly and was by her side when she passed. Before her illness, they spent many joyful times "up north" and they savored the time they shared as a couple. The family is especially grateful for the love and support shown by Katie, Kari, Brittany, and the constellation of friends who showed up in many ways for Steph and her girls these past months.Celebration of Life for Stephanie Jo Green will be held Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Zhora Darling, 509 1st Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm (2:00pm - 3:30pm program and time for sharing)Those who knew and loved Steph are warmly invited to gather, share memories, and honor the remarkable life she lived.Arrangements will be made by the Cremation Society of MN.
