Stanley “Stan” Gene Smith, 72, of Pavillion, Wyoming, passed away on March 9, 2026, in Riverton. Born on July 21, 1953, in Tacoma, Washington, to Carl Leroy Smith and Margaret Bernice Stucks, Stan grew up in Mount Vernon, Washington, and Brea, California, where he attended Laurel Elementary School and Brea Olinda High School.

On September 20, 1970, he married the love of his life, Sheri Lawson, in Mount Vernon, Washington. Together they built a life centered on hard work and family, living in Mount Vernon, Brea, and finally Riverton, Wyoming. Stan worked as an iron welder and took great pride in his craftsmanship; among his accomplishments was helping to build the house of Bob Hope. He was also an avid woodworker who enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Above all, he cherished moments with family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. A man of Christian faith, Stan lived with quiet dedication to those he loved.

He is survived by his wife, Sheri Smith of Pavillion, Wyoming; his children, Michael (Jaime) Smith of Riverton, Wyoming, Sharon (Min) Moreno of Marbleton, Wyoming, Melissa Allen of Riverton, Wyoming, Heather McGarr of Riverton, Wyoming, and Daniel (Kate) Smith of Lacey, Wyoming; 24 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Leroy Smith and Margaret Bernice Stucks; his son, David Paul Smith; and his grandparents, Ethel and William Stucks and Mimi and Emmit Smith.
