Stanford Blaine Presley, 89, of Gate City, Virginia, passed away on March 12, 2026, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Born in Scott County, Virginia, on October 3, 1936, Stanford lived a life defined by quiet dedication to his family and community. A U.S. Army veteran, he served his country with honor before beginning a long career as a machine operator at Kingsport Press, where he worked until his retirement. He was a longtime member of Pendleton’s Freewill Baptist Church and was known for his strong work ethic and steadfast commitment in all he did. He found deep satisfaction in farming, nurturing both the land and the cherished memories he created there with those he loved.
Stanford shared a loving marriage of 64 years with his wife, Lakie Mae (Nickels) Presley. Their bond was marked by enduring love, laughter, and countless shared moments. He is survived by his children, Libby, John, Johnathan, John Douglas, Allison, and Jamie; his sisters, Joan Austin, Charlotte (Denny) Price, and Bronya (Eric) Rhymer; his brothers, Doug (Tommie) Presley and CH (Jane) Presley; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Presley; and many beloved nieces and nephews who will always remember his kindness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Presley, Sr. and Genevieve Evelyn (Day) Presley; his sisters, June Presley and Doris Johnson; his brother, William Paul Presley, Sr.; his nephews, William Paul Presley, Jr. and Abraham Price; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Etta and George Nickels; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.
Stanford will be remembered as a kind and loving soul whose gentle spirit touched everyone who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion that will continue to live in the hearts of his family and friends.
