Sr. Vivian Chiodini, born Vivian Marie Chiodini on May 5, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri, died peacefully on March 6, 2026, at Whitney Center in Hamden, Connecticut, at the age of 85. She had been a professed member of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for 64 years. The daughter of the late Mario and Louise (Oldani) Chiodini, she entered the congregation on September 1, 1959, in Hamden, professed her First Vows on August 23, 1962, and her Perpetual Vows on August 22, 1967.
Previously known as Sr. Laura Louise, she was predeceased by her siblings, Joseph (Una) Chiodini and Laura (John) Riganti. She is remembered with great affection as a loving aunt to Bernadette (Phil Cohen) Riganti, Janet Riganti, Mary Faith (Ted) Green, Vivian (Chip) Stranahan, John (Lenore) Riganti, Carla (Mike) Russell, Andrew Riganti, and Christine (Mike) Keller, and was cherished by many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She is also lovingly remembered by her religious family, the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and by her many faithful friends.
Sr. Vivian earned a BS in Elementary Education from Fordham University and an MS in Elementary Education from Duquesne University. She devoted many years to teaching children in Pennsylvania, Florida, Illinois, New York, Missouri, and Connecticut, beginning her ministry at St. Charles Borromeo in Chicago in 1970. After retiring to Sacred Heart Manor in 2014, she continued her mission as a faithful Apostle Adorer. She was known for her gift of storytelling, her ready laughter and tears, and her deep devotion to the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph.
