She excelled as a student throughout her schooling, and after graduating, decided to find a job to support her family financially. After completing her education, Fanny began her teaching career at a Salesian School. Little did she know that this position would determine the path of her life.Fanny joined the Salesian Sisters in Paterson, New Jersey, on January 24, 1960In 1955, she obtained a Master's degree and Certificate in Biology and Chemistry from the National Pedagogical University (UPN) in Colombia. Sr. Fanny arrived in Paterson, New Jersey, on January 24, 1960, to begin her studies to become a Salesian Sister. In 1972 she earned a MA in Science from Montclair University and was certified as a Science Teacher in 1973 by the State of New Jersey.Sr. Fanny was a gifted teacher who worked in various houses and positions across the United States, some of which include North Haledon, NJ, Charlestown, MA, Laredo, TX, Tampa, Fl, New York, NY, Miami, FL. As well as teaching she served as a cafeteria manager, Economer, tuition coordinator, assistant, and catechist..In 2015, Sr. Fanny retired at St. Joseph Provincial Center, Haledon, NJ. All those who knew her will miss her patience, cheerfulness, and Salesian joy as well as her selfless dedication to young people.Visitors received on Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 2:30 pm - 4:00 at the St. Joseph Center, Haledon. Rosary will begin at 4pm, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 5pm.Private entombment at the Salesian Sisters Mausoleum, North Haledon, NJ.Memorial contributions in Sister Fanny's honor can be made to the retirement fund at the Salesian Sisters: mail to Sr. Katie Flanagan, 659 Belmont Ave. North Haledon, NJ 7508.
