Spyros G. Condos

Spyros G. Condos March 13, 2026 Spyros Condos, 84, passed away peacefully at YNHH, surrounded by his loving family, on March 13, 2026, after a long stay in the hospital fighting different infections primarily diverticulitis. He was born in Chios, Greece, the second son of George and Anastasia Condos. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Athena Sophia, his son George and his daughter Anastasia Condos Mucaj, son-in-law Thanos Mucaj and his beloved granddaughter Amelia Athena whose birth gave him great joy. He enjoyed sharing his love of painting and colors with her. He is also survived by his nieces Anastasia and Katerina of Chios, Greece. His professional life started at Yale Medical School in 1971 primarily doing research in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Laboratories. He continued in other areas of research such as in Laparoscopic surgery and finally he directed the Office of Telemedicine until his retirement. He was very involved with the Greek American community in New Haven, and he worked tirelessly to succeed in the construction of a Greek Orthodox Church in New Haven. Starting from 1992 with the construction of the first building, the final structure came in 2019. The viewing will be at St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church, 1, Tower Lane, New Haven on Thursday, March 19th, 2026, from 5-7. The funeral will be held on Friday, March 20th, 2026, at 10 a.m. at St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church and internment will be at Beaverdale Memorial Park in Hamden. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church in New Haven. All arrangements for the funeral have been organized by Celentano Funeral Home in New Haven.
