Sonya Thompson, age 57 of Munfordville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026. She grew up in the Dorsey Chapel Methodist Church and later joined St. Benedict’s Catholic Church. A retired teacher from Hart County, Sonya also served as a girls’ basketball coach and was inducted into the 5th District Athletic Directors Hall of Fame. She found great joy in traveling, spending time with friends, and caring for her animals.
She was the daughter of Sandra Kay Jaggers Thompson and the late Ralph Armond Thompson.
Sonya is survived by her son, Brennen Thompson-Ross of Bowling Green, Kentucky; her mother, Sandra; her brother, Chip Thompson and his wife Lisa of Sedalia, Colorado; her nephews, Benjamin Thompson and James Thompson, both of Sedalia; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and many members of her extended family.
