Memorial services will be held at Sidney Cemetery in Sidney, Iowa, at a later date.OBITUARY:Sondra Kay (Sligar) Bebout, daughter of Carl Samuel and Nina Louise (Dyke) Sligar, was born August 30, 1939, outside of Sidney, Iowa. She entered into eternal rest at Accura Healthcare of Shenandoah, Iowa, on March 11, 2026, at the age of 86.Her entire life was spent living in Fremont County and primarily in the McPaul and Sidney areas. She attended school in Fremont County and graduated from Thurman Consolidated School in 1957. Immediately following graduation, Kay worked at the American Meter Plant in Nebraska City, Nebraska.On July 25, 1959, Kay was united in marriage to Norman Lew Bebout at the Methodist Church in Sidney, Iowa. They resided in the McPaul area where they farmed for nearly 40 years. During these years, Kay also worked as a secretary at several locations including the Fremont-Mills Schools (Thurman Center) and the Danley Law Firm in Sidney. One son, Kevin, was born in 1960. After living on the farm for over 50 years, Lew and Kay moved to Sidney in 2011.She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Thurman as well as the United Methodist Woman, the Friendly Neighbors Club, Pythian Sisters, Modern Idea Club, Club of the Month, and the I-29 Custom Cruisers antique car club. Kay enjoyed crafts, including painting ceramics and flower arranging. She and Lew loved to spend time together restoring and showing antique cars – they had several that were well-known in the area!Preceding her in death were her husband, Lew Bebout; parents, Carl and Nina Sligar; in-laws, Lyman and Lorraine Bebout; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rollo Lee and Marjorie Bebout and Eugene and Betty Bebout; and brothers-in-law, Roger Weberg and David Brownfield. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Kevin of Iowa City, Iowa; sister-in-law, Wanda Weberg of Mesa, Arizona; sister-in-law, Charlene Brownfield of Sidney, Iowa; sister-in-law Carolyn Bebout of Council Bluffs, Iowa; uncle, David Sligar of Hemingford, Nebraska; several cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.Inurnment of ashes will be in the Sidney Cemetery at a later date.Kay will be greatly missed by those family members and friends who knew her.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
