Sister Donna Franklin ObituaryVisit the Legacy Remembers website to view the full obituary.Sr. Donna (Donna Marie) Franklin, born May 15, 1950, in Philadelphia and the oldest of three children born to Louis Franklin, Jr and Catherine Veronica (Brady) Franklin, died March 11, 2026. She graduated from Archbishop Wood High School for Girls, Warminster, Pa., in 1968 then entered the Daughters of Charity in May 1975. She earned a BS in Sociology, 1981, from Emmanuel College, Boston and an MSW from Hunter School of Social Work, 1986, New York, N.Y. She was awarded a Certificate in Chemical Dependency Counseling from Villanova University (1992), Villanova, Pa. Sister served as a Social Worker at Nazareth Child Care Center, Jamaica Plain, Mass.; St. John of God Assisted Living, Brighton, Mass.; and St. Catherine's Center for Children, Albany, N.Y. Upon earning her MSW, Sr. Donna served at Nazareth Home in Boston; Astor Home for Children in Rhinebeck, N.Y.; Immaculate Conception Parish, Ghebre Michael Inn, Philadelphia; then Sister was appointed Director of Catholic Charities for the Diocese of Ogdensburg, NY from January 1995 to April 2018. Sr. Donna missioned to the Ministry of Prayer at St. Louise House, Albany, NY where she, in addition to prayer, ceaselessly performed kind acts for the Sisters with whom she lived.Sister's Funeral Mass was celebrated March 16 at the Daughters of Charity Chapel, DePaul Residence in Albany followed by burial in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, N.Y. She is survived by one sister, Ann Cecilia Smith (Timothy Smith); one brother, Louis Joseph Franklin (Carol Landes); three nieces, Jessica Franklin Clark, Molly Smith and Leah Smith; one nephew, Michael Franklin; two great nephews, Carter Clark and Frankie Clark; one great niece, Collette Clark and many Brady and Franklin cousins.
