She was born Friday June 07, 1935 at Shawnee Branch to the late Les and Julie Whitaker Risner.She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Alice Faye Haris of Kenton, Ohio, grandchildren, Michael Risner of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Kaylee Harris and Christpher Harris both of Kenton, Ohio, great grandchildren, Cova-Ann Risner, Jawston Lee Wireman, Arbella Nowell Harris, Waylon James Harris, Micah Dayne James Harris, Lilith Grace Staley, Brentlee Richard Harris, stepchildren, Abe Prater, Rocky Prater, Arlene Ledesma, Valerie Nickels, Maxine Kalb, Michael Prater, and Ricky Prater, brothers, George (Brenda) Risner, Lloyd (Minnie) Risner, and many relatives and friends.Sissy was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Prater, her son, Gary Lee Risner, her parents, stepchildren, Martha Corbett, Joyce Duchnowski, Brenda Nickels, and Ellen Byle, siblings, Mary Risner, Goldie Risner, Susie Prater, Edith Howard, Estis Fitzpatrick, Kermit Risner, Kelly Risner, Garland Risner, and Boyd Risner.Sissy Jewel shone brightly spreading joy wherever she went selflessly caring for others especially her family, friends, and elderly neighbors.She loved to share childhood memories and stories. Sissy enjoyed sewing quilts gardening, and caring for animals, especially her cat. Sissy had a heart full of kindness and a spirit of compassion that touched many lives.Sissy Jewel was a devoted member of the Boyd Risner Memorial Church. To know Sissy was to witness her unwavering commitment to living for her Lord and Savior Jesus with Heaven as her eternal home.Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 19, 2026 from the Boyd Risner Memorial Church with David LaFountaine officiating. Burial will follow in the Les Risner Memorial Cemetery at Shawnee Branch, Kentucky. Friends may visit the church Tuesday, March 17, 2026 after 4:00 P.M., all day Wednesday, March 18,2026 and any time prior to funeral services.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
