Simpson M. Calhoun, 93, of Leavittsburg, Ohio, passed away on March 14, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 25, 1932, in Philippi, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Mayberry and Florence (Overfield) Calhoun. On August 31, 1957, he married Norma E. Hanna, and the couple shared 68 years of devoted marriage.
A veteran of the United States Army, Simpson served in Germany with the Medical Corps during the Korean War. He worked for 19 years at Grinnell Corp. before spending 27 years as a toolmaker at General Motors Lordstown. A longtime member of the Morgandale Church of the Nazarene, he found his greatest joy in time spent with his family and in raising Red Poll Cattle on his farm. He and Norma traveled extensively throughout the United States and many places abroad.
He is survived by his wife, Norma E. Calhoun of Leavittsburg; daughters, Deborah (Russ) Teffner of Champion, Ohio, Joanne (Chuck) Nicholson of Howland, Ohio, Sharon (Rick) Burney of Springfield, Missouri, and Jane (Jack) Muir of Anderson, South Carolina; grandchildren, Brian (Amy) Roberts, Hannah (Deven) Cooper, Molly Burney, and Colton Burney; great-grandchildren, Daisy and Brantley Roberts; and siblings, Delane (Susie) Calhoun of Lordstown, Viola Marlowe, and Carl (Sandy) Calhoun, all of Leavittsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Scott, Ralph, and Paul Calhoun.
