Simon Sorensen ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Passalacqua Funeral Chapel on Feb. 24, 2026.Simon Hill-Brask Sorensen, age 32, was born on August 19, 1993, in Vallejo, and passed away on February 23, 2026, also in Vallejo. A fighter until the very end, Simon faced life's challenges with courage, determination, and an unshakable optimism that inspired all who knew him. Simon earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in aerospace from San Jose State University, reflecting his lifelong fascination with flight and innovation. For the past five years, he worked as a Customer Relations Supervisor for Zoox, the pioneering self-driving automobile company, where he was respected for his leadership, professionalism, and natural ability to connect with others. Proud of his Danish heritage, Simon held dual citizenship in Denmark and the United States. Denmark held a special place in his heart, particularly the cherished memories of time spent in his grandparents' backyards. He carried that pride in his heritage with him always. Simon's passions were as vibrant as his personality. He loved building with Legos, immersing himself in the world of Star Wars, and diving deep into history-so much so that few dared to debate him, knowing he would undoubtedly have the facts to back up his case. He had a deep appreciation for Korean and Japanese culture and was a devoted fan of K-pop, especially the group TWICE. Simon loved attending Cosplay as much as he could. He enjoyed flying, playing board games, and was known affectionately as a bit of a shopaholic. Above all, Simon valued his friendships and relationships. He was a gifted mediator, an eternal optimist, and a man who never had a bad word to say about anyone. One of his last contributions was to the Northgate food bank. His positivity, kindness, and steady presence left a lasting mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Simon is survived by his loving parents, Frank and Ana Sorensen; his sister, Nicole Mortlock; his beloved nephew, Preston Mortlock; and his cherished dogs, Churchill and Sedona. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Northgate Community Fellowship, 2201 Lake Herman Road in Benicia, followed by burial at the Benicia Cemetery. Contributions in Simon's name may be made to Northgate Church. Simon will be remembered for his brilliant mind, love of photography, generous heart, and unwavering positivity. His light, though far too brief, will continue to shine in the lives of those who loved him.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
