Silverio Scotti

August 4, 1926 March 11, 2026

Fishkill, NY

Silverio Scotti, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Fishkill, New York, on March 11, 2026, at the age of 99. Born on August 4, 1926, in Ponza, Italy, he was the son of the late Silverio and Olimpia (Conte) Scotti. At the age of nine, he immigrated to the United States, where he built a life grounded in resilience, hard work, devotion to family, and deep pride in his Italian heritage.

In 1945, Silverio enlisted in the United States Army during World War II and served honorably until his discharge in 1947. He worked for 23 years with the NYC Department of Sanitation, retiring in 1985. He found great joy in the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing, and loved to travel and share adventures with his family and lifelong friends. Above all, he remained deeply connected to his roots as a devoted member of the San Silverio Shrine of Dover Plains Social Club. He cherished attending the Feasts in Dover Plains, carrying the Saints in procession, dancing, and playing bocce with his community.

On June 13, 1962, Silverio married the love of his life, Santina Scarfi, in Ponza, Italy. Their marriage was a partnership of deep devotion that spanned more than six decades. Together they divided their time between Ponza and Fishkill for over twenty years. Santina survives him at their home in Fishkill.

Silverio’s greatest happiness came from his family. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Scotti and her husband Jack Schneider of Potomac, Maryland; Patricia Golden and her husband Michael of Brunswick, Georgia; and Olimpia Bernard and her husband Donald of Stormville, New York. He was a proud grandfather to Luke Schneider, Andrew Golden and his wife Molly, Matthew Golden, Benjamin Bernard, Brian Bernard, and Brandon Bernard, and a cherished great-grandfather to Liam, Caroline, and Madden. He was predeceased by his son, Silverio “Junior” Scotti, in 1981, and by his sister, Ida Romano. He will be remembered for the love he gave, the stories he shared, and the family he cherished so deeply.
