Sigrun McGee

Sigrun McGee, age 101, of Dell Rapids, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on March 5, 2026. Born Sigrun Sunde on January 23, 1925, in Logan Township near Dell Rapids, South Dakota, she was the daughter of John and Karen Sunde. She attended Logan Valley Country School and moved with her family to Lake County in 1936. She graduated from Orland High School near Madison in 1942.

After living and working in Sioux Falls, Sigrun married Kenneth B. McGee in 1946. The couple farmed near Dell Rapids for 45 years before moving into town in 1994. A lifelong person of faith, she was a longtime member of the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids and previously belonged to First Lutheran Church in Sherman, where she served as treasurer for the Ladies Aid for more than 19 years and taught Sunday school.

She will be remembered for her deep faith, her kind and gentle spirit, her thankful and joyful heart, and her abiding love for her family and friends.

Sigrun is survived by her children, Karen Muller of Carmel, Indiana; Cheryl (Max) Merry of Dell Rapids; Joy (Marc) Meissner of San Antonio, Texas; Mark (Amy) McGee of Dell Rapids; and Brian (Chris) McGee of Dell Rapids; her grandchildren, Bryce Muller, Kari (Todd) Morarity, Courtney (Robert) Kelly, Brooke (Garrett) Reed, Casey (Brittni) McGee, Justin Jensen, Jenna (Marcus) Murphy, and Michael (Halle) McGee; and her great-grandchildren, Josie and Sydney Morarity, Raven and Killian Reed, Raina and Ava McGee, Ilah and Beau Murphy, and Etta McGee. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, her siblings, her granddaughter Ann Merry, her grandson Matthew McGee, and her son-in-law Roger Muller.
