Shirley Wilson

Shirley F. Wilson, 81, of Danville, Indiana, passed peacefully from her temporary home with us to her eternal home in Heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on March 7, 2026. Born in Jackson, Michigan, she lived for many years in Elkhart, Indiana, where she raised her family and was deeply involved in her church and community. She later resided in Nashville, Tennessee, before settling in central Indiana.

A graduate of Western Michigan University, Shirley earned her master’s degree in education from IUSB and devoted much of her life to teaching. She had a lifelong passion for writing and published numerous articles and short stories. She found great joy in hiking, bike riding, birdwatching, and caring for her flower garden each year, while her two beloved cats provided her with constant companionship.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Zella Wilson, and her brother, Fred Phillips. Shirley is survived by her daughters Debbie Riepe (Mike), Julie Burnham, Marcy Shepard (Tony), Katy Bressler (Jim), and her son Jeff Burnham, along with 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
