December 31, 1934 March 13, 2026

Easley, SC

Shirley Ramsey Hester, 91, of Easley, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026. She was the loving wife of Boyce Lee Hester.

Born on December 31, 1934, in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Shirley was the daughter of the late Willie and Onice Falls Ramsey. She began her career as a beautician, bringing joy to others by helping them look and feel their best. She later served as a customer service representative for Duke Energy for 15 years before retiring. Her genuine care for people was evident in everything she did.

Above all, Shirley cherished her role as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She found deep fulfillment in time spent with her family, sharing meals and creating memories. An excellent cook, she was especially known for her lasagna and country-style steak that became beloved staples at family gatherings. She also expressed her creativity through crafts and painting. Together with her husband Boyce, who built birdhouses, she added colorful life to them with her artwork. She enjoyed relaxing outdoors and soaking up the sun.

In addition to her husband of 66 years, Shirley is survived by her two children, Mark Hester (Tammy) and Kelly Herring; four grandchildren, Chandler Herring, Kendall Herring, Ashley Elrod (Landon), and Chase Hester (Nora); as well as one great-grandson, Ryder Hester, and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Duke Ramsey, Bill Ramsey, and Dean Ramsey.
