Shirley Pearl Daugherty

Summersville, MO

Shirley Pearl Daugherty was born on November 5, 1937, in Hartshorn, Missouri, to John and Ethel (Bailey) Spencer. She passed away peacefully at her home in Summersville, Missouri, on March 11, 2026, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

A 1956 graduate of Houston High School, Shirley married Freddy Earl Daugherty and moved to Iowa, where they raised three children: Ricky, Ronda, and Rusty. She later returned to Missouri in April 1980. Over the years she worked in several factories, spent 22 years at H.D. Lee Company, and another 17 years with the Houston Herald, where she valued her colleagues and the opportunity to stay connected with family and friends.

Shirley found joy in CB coffee breaks, backyard barbecues, bowling, ceramics, lively family gatherings, and her work as an Avon and Tupperware dealer. A longtime member of Eunice Baptist Church, she remained close to her extended family throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leonard Blum Sr.; her brother Rex and sister-in-law Dolly Spencer; her brother Mansel Spencer; her sister Margaret Darlene Hutton; her brother-in-law Earl Durnell; her son Rusty Daugherty; her step-son David Blum; her grandson Jesse Blanks; her great-granddaughter Dessa Blanks; her great-grandchild Cory Blanks; her great-great grandchild Ezra Blanks; and two step-granddaughters, Kimberly and Day Lynn Blum. She is survived by her brother Roy and sister-in-law Patty Spencer of Arvada, Colorado; her sister Emily Durnell of Cabool, Missouri; her children Ricky Daugherty and Ronda Blanks; her step-son Leonard Blum Jr. (Lenny) and his dog Buddy, all of Summersville, Missouri; her step-daughters Anna and Roger Nankey of Omaha, Nebraska, Pam and Larry Eastman of Shell Rock, Iowa, and Brenda Walker of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; her step-son Jeff Blum of Davenport, Iowa; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
