Shirley Mae Roach

Shirley Mae Roach, 82, of Duffield, Virginia, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Born on May 26, 1943, in Mabe, Virginia, Shirley was the daughter of the late Ernest Clayton and Martha Bowen Amburgey. A lifelong member of the Duffield Primitive Baptist/Hill’s Chapel Church in Mabe, she remained deeply connected to her faith and church family throughout her life.

Preceded in death by her parents, sisters Betty Renfro and Peggy Jean Dulin, brothers Johnny Ray Amburgey and Marion “Mug” Amburgey, and her aunt Vergie Bowen, Shirley is survived by her husband of many years, Keith Douglas “Tom” Roach; her sons, Jeffrey Lee Baker and his wife Julia Ann, and Jason Leith Baker; her grandchildren, Aurora Leann Jobe and her husband Jacob, and Alden Nathaniel Baker; her sisters Mary Carolyn Roach and her husband Henry, and Dora Ernestine Amburgey; her brothers George Kenneth Amburgey and his wife Betty, and Bobby Joe Amburgey and his wife Robin; her special friend Jewell Baker; and many nieces, nephews, and cherished members of her church family.

Shirley’s quiet strength, devotion to her family, and steadfast faith left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She will be remembered with deep affection by those she leaves behind.
