McGee, 88, of Elon, North Carolina, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories with her family and friends.She was married to the love of her life, William G. McGee, for 34 wonderful years. Together they shared a love of travel and adventure and built a beautiful life together.Shirley had a deep appreciation for beauty and nature and was an avid gardener. She was a proud member of the North Lake Norman Garden Club and found great joy in cultivating flowers and sharing her love of gardening with others.A woman of strong faith, Shirley was of the Methodist faith and lived her life with kindness, generosity, and a warm spirit that touched everyone who knew her.Shirley loved spending time with family and enjoyed many summers in Blowing Rock celebrating her anniversaries and birthdays. She treasured the years she spent living at Smith Mountain Lake and Lake Norman before eventually settling in Elon to be closer to her family and grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William G. McGee, her mother, Flora Gearhart Sumner (Archie) and her sisters, Doloris Ann Demas and Norma Jean Lawson.She is survived by her son, Monty Thompson (Lou Ann); her daughters, Tami Koury (Ernie), Sherri McGee (Kris), and Debbie Hunter. She leaves behind her 6 cherished grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and extended family who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her devoted caregivers especially Varry and Jill, whose compassion, kindness, and loving care brought comfort and dignity to our mother during the final years of her life.
