Shirley Schroeder Conlin, 88, of Arthur, Illinois, passed away on March 11, 2026. She was born in Neoga, Illinois, on July 13, 1937, the daughter of Edward and Delores Schroeder.

A valedictorian of Neoga High School, Shirley went on to work as a dental assistant at the Link Clinic in Mattoon. There, a coworker introduced her to Jack Conlin. They married in November 1963 and began their life together on the family farm, where they spent the next 55 years raising their three daughters. Together they cherished traveling and family trips to Sanibel Island. Shirley was known for her warm Sunday dinners featuring homemade noodles shared with family and friends. A devoted homemaker and caretaker, she found joy in sewing, cooking, and spending time with those she loved. She was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sullivan.

Shirley is survived by her daughters Lori (Arlyn) Poppen, Andi (Duane) Schlabach, and Amy (Greg) Henderson; her grandchildren Alex (Emily) Poppen, Chandler Poppen, Rhett and Drew Schlabach, Ella and Gabe Henderson; and her great-grandchildren Eleanor and Charlie Poppen. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Phil and Alice Conlin and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents Edward and Delores Schroeder, her sister and brother-in-law Fran and Bill Handley, her nephew Curt Handley, and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dave and Bonnie Conlin.
