Indian Head, MD
Shirley Ann Proctor was born to Morris and Agnes Proctor on May 4, 1939, and passed away peacefully at her home on March 5, 2026.
She grew up on a farm in Indian Head, Maryland, surrounded by her parents and siblings in a home filled with love and laughter. She attended the Charles County school system. On September 28, 1963, she married William Roy Proctor. Shirley devoted herself to her family as a stay-at-home mother, lovingly caring for her children and later her grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Among her simple pleasures were playing cards and watching her favorite soap opera, The Young and the Restless, along with Lifetime television shows.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Agnes Proctor; her husband, William Roy Proctor, known as Jack; her longtime companion, John Louis Proctor, known as Chubby; two sisters, Barbara Proctor and Salome Savoy; and four children, McKinley Proctor, Joyce Thompson, Mark Proctor, and Derrick Proctor.
She is survived by her brothers, Larry and Timmy Proctor; her sisters, Elizabeth Bowman and Mary Neal; her son, Jerry Proctor and his wife Lina; her daughters, Chrissy Proctor and her husband Eddie Savoy, Jackie and her husband Jimmy Savoy, Marie Proctor and her husband Kevin Savoy, Wanda and her husband Darryl Butler, and Sherri Proctor; along with 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Her spirit will live on in every shared story, every echo of laughter, and every act of love inspired by her example. She will forever be carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
