Shirley Ann (Best)(Romines) Crow, affectionately known as "Nanny," passed away peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 14, 2026. Born on June 29, 1937, in Nashville.
Shirley dedicated over three decades of her life to Tennessee Tufting, where her commitment and work ethic were greatly admired. Alongside her long tenure there, she also contributed her talents and warmth to numerous restaurants, making a lasting impression on colleagues and patrons alike. Her professional journey was a testament to her dedication, resilience, and vibrant spirit.
She was born Shirley Ann Scarbrough to her beloved parents, Johnny L. Scarbrough and Mary E. (Harrison) Scarbrough. Shirley was cherished not only by her parents but also by her special uncle, Charlie Scarbrough, and grew up surrounded by family including her brothers, Robert N. Scarbrough and Johnny L. Scarbrough, and her sisters, Corina Bulter and Faye Shackleford.
Throughout her life, Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son, Jack A. Best Jr. (Shirley), and her daughters, Elizabeth A. Hanesworth and Diane Romines (Mike Garmon). Her family has been blessed with 17 grandchildren, several step-grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren who all held her in great esteem as “Nanny,” a figure of unconditional love and support in their lives.
Shirley’s family also remembers those who preceded her in death,including her loving husband William Crow and her sons Robert N. Best and Robert L. Romines, and her daughter Dorothy L. Richards, whose memories remain close to their hearts.
A visitation to honor Shirley’s life will be held at West Harpeth Funeral Home, located at 6962 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, Tennessee 37209, on March 17, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation at 10:30 till time of the funeral service which will follow on March 18, 2026, starting at 12:30 p.m. at the same location. Interment will take place at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, 9090 TN-100, Nashville, Tennessee 37221, commencing at 2:30 p.m. on the day of the service. Services will be officiated by Brother Jerry Lusk.
Shirley Ann Crow’s legacy is one of love, dedication, and devotion to her family and community. She will be remembered respectfully and fondly by those who knew her, and her memory will continue to inspire kindness and strength in the hearts of her loved ones.
