Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert G. Ahlgrim; her parents, Julia and Ted Bielawski; and her brother, Richard Bielawski.She is survived by her loving sons, Robert W. Ahlgrim (Kristie), Joseph Ahlgrim (Jennifer) and "daughter" Nicole Ahlgrim; her cherished granddaughters, Brittany Ahlgrim (Jordan) and Rebecca Ahlgrim (Nick); sisters-in-law Barbara Bielawski and Linda Kososki; brother-in-law Tom Ahlgrim (Irene); nieces Tammy Lynn Popchock (Steven), Dawn Bielawski, Jaime Frazier (Brendon) and Cara Ahlgrim; great-nephew Alexander Bielawski; and great-niece Madison Frazier. Shirley's family was the heart of her life, and she treasured her relationships deeply.Shirley dedicated 50 years of her professional life to the cities of Hazel Park and Ferndale, where she formed lifelong friendships both inside and outside of City Hall. Her work ethic, commitment to community, and warmth made her an invaluable colleague and friend to many.Faith played a central role in Shirley's life. She devoted herself to God and the church, serving at St. Mary Magdalen and volunteering her time to the church rummage sales. Shirley's unwavering dedication to her church community enriched the lives of all who knew her.Throughout her journey, Shirley made many friends, both at work and through the church. Jaynmarie Reddie was her closest companion, the Thelma to her Louise on life's many adventures. She held her "friends from Hazel Park" –Nancy, Joyce, Mary R, RoseMary, Lori, and many others-especially close to her heart, cherishing the bonds they shared over the years.Shirley was also active in the National Wild Turkey Federation Beards and Spurs chapter, a group her late husband helped to found alongside their dearest friends, Barb and Dan Potter. Her involvement reflected her passion for community and the outdoors.Shirley will be remembered for her compassion, dedication, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.St. Marie's hospice cared for mom in her final weeks, giving her love and the family support to navigate these difficult times.
