Sheryl Lynn Lytle

June 30, 1960 March 9, 2026

Harlan, IA

Sheryl “Sherry” Lynn Lytle, age 65, of Harlan, Iowa, passed away on March 9, 2026, after a courageous battle with metastatic lung cancer.

Born on June 30, 1960, in Harlan to Ed and Gloria (Andersen) Mills, Sherry was raised on her family’s farm east of Harlan. She grew up active in church and 4-H, where she first met her future husband, Gaige Lytle. The couple married on July 14, 1979, and made their home on their farm southwest of Harlan. Together they raised four daughters while farming corn and soybeans and caring for cattle, hogs, and sheep. Their love and devotion to one another only deepened through the years.

As a devoted farm wife and mother, Sherry was always ready to lend a hand, whether delivering lunch to the field, moving vehicles, or spending hours mowing the family’s expansive lawn. She supported her children at every performance, event, and milestone, often volunteering as a leader and faithfully recording memories on videotape. In 2026, she was honored as Iowa Mother of the Year.

Sherry remained deeply involved at Immanuel Lutheran Church for more than 50 years. She sang in the choir, served as cantor, volunteered with children and youth, participated in Bible studies, and served as a Stephen’s Minister. With a servant’s heart, she consistently showed up for others, offering genuine love and care that reflected her living faith. To know Sherry was to experience her deep and sincere affection for those around her.

She is survived by her husband of 46½ years, Gaige; her four daughters and thirteen grandchildren: Angie (Chris) Trailer of Minneapolis, MN and their children Kailey, Ethan, Lana, and Jameson; Molly (Patrick) Kieper of Hatley, WI and their children Mackenzie and Naomi; Jana (Adam) Wiblishouser of Omaha, NE and their children Kason, Gaige, Thatcher, Simon, and Whitney (John) Hunt and great-grandchildren Audrina, Braxton, Aliyah, and Mia; and Amy (Scott) King of Pelican Rapids, MN and their children Ryan and Emma. She is also survived by her parents and parents-in-law Ed (Shelia) Mills and Vivian Lytle; siblings and siblings-in-law Denise Broveak, Hollie Mills, Kevin (Lori) Mills, Jim Bruck, Mark (Phyllis) Lytle, and Joni (Chris) Larsen; and 18 nieces and nephews and their families.

Sherry was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Mills; her father-in-law, Randall Lytle; her brother, Wade Mills; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Julie Bruck and Bill Broveak; and her grandson, A.J. Wiblishouser.
