Sherlie Eloi

January 24, 1965 March 7, 2026

Newark, NJ

Sherlie Eloi, affectionately known as Ferline, was born on January 24, 1965, in Desdunes, Haiti, to Sauveur Dieujuste and Claircina Noel. She received her primary education at Ecole Nationale de Desdunes and completed her secondary studies at College Isidor Jean-Louis in Port-au-Prince. In 1984, she immigrated to the United States, where she built a career as a Direct Support Professional and phlebotomist, devoting herself with compassion to caring for the disabled and elderly in assisted-living facilities.

In 1992, she married Pierre Eloi, a connection that began after they had first crossed paths in Haiti. Together they raised three children: Barbara Eloi (now Barbara Mele), Herman Eloi, and Jason Eloi. Barbara’s marriage to Guybs Mele brought two cherished grandchildren into her life, twins Lilah Mele and Noah Mele, who were two and a half years old at the time of her passing.

Ferline was deeply involved in the life of Maranatha Seventh Day Adventist Church in Newark, New Jersey, where she sang in the choir, taught Sabbath School, achieved the title of SDA Master Guide, and became known for her exceptional cooking and generous spirit. She found joy in preparing meals for others, donating to those in need, dancing, spending time outdoors, and sharing laughter with friends. Above all, she loved people and lived a life centered on service and kindness.

She is survived by her husband, Pierre Eloi, her children, her son-in-law Guybs Mele, her grandchildren Lilah and Noah, and her brothers Wilbert Dieujuste, Gracia Dieujuste, Wikinson Dieujuste, Fanel Dieujuste, Emmanuel Dieujuste, Stan Dieujuste, and Lunson Dieujuste. Sherlie Eloi passed away on March 7, 2026, at Morristown Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a lasting legacy of helping others.
