Sheri Smith

Sheri Smith, 72, of Spirit Lake, Idaho, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026. Born to Richard Gilbert and Francis Fritz, she was the second youngest of six children and spent her entire life in the North Idaho area, where she raised her own family.

In 1969, Sheri met the love of her life, Timothy Smith Sr. They married in February 1970 and welcomed their first child that August, later expanding their family to five children. Together, Sheri and Tim created a life filled with simple joys—road trips, fishing on the lake with her father and brother, summer barbecues surrounded by family, and evenings spent dancing or at the drive-in. She found great pleasure in crafting, crocheting, cooking, canning, and baking, often making pajamas and blankets for her children and grandchildren at Christmas. In her younger years she bowled in a league, and later in life she and Tim enjoyed their regular trips to the casino, a shared ritual that brought them happiness for decades.

For most of her married life, Sheri was a devoted homemaker, lovingly raising their five children. Once the youngest was in her teens, she worked at Walmart in both Post Falls and Hayden for seven years, where she formed lasting friendships that continued to bring her joy long after she left the job.

Sheri is survived by her husband of 56 years, Timothy, and their five children: Alice (Clinton), Timothy Jr. (Kelly), Merriah (Michael), Jason (Annaka), and Alisa (Jesse). She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and their spouses, 26 great-grandchildren, her youngest brother Brett, and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Francis; her siblings Warren, Marie, Donna, and Rick; her grandson Logan; and her in-laws Harold and Betty Atkinson.
