December 3, 1974— March 14, 2026
Cumberland, KY
Shawntease Delshell Combs, age 51, of Cumberland, Kentucky, passed peacefully at her residence on March 14, 2026. Born on December 3, 1974, in Harlan, Kentucky, she was the beloved daughter of the late Everett “Scottie” and Carol Watts Combs.
Shawntease grew up in Harlan County, surrounded by the hills and community she loved. At twenty-one, she moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she built a career as a Customer Service Representative for Allstate Insurance Company. Her natural warmth and genuine care for others made her especially suited for helping people. In recent years, as her health declined, she returned to Harlan County to be near her brother. Even as she faced significant personal losses and her own health challenges, she met life with quiet strength and a warm, radiant smile that put others at ease.
She had a deep love for animals, especially her cherished cat, Styles, who remained her faithful companion. Those who knew her will remember her loving personality, her kindness toward people and creatures alike, and the way she lit up every room she entered.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved fiancé Grady “Trey” Boswell III, and her stepson, Christian Boswell. She is survived by her devoted brother, Scottie Edward Combs of Cumberland, Kentucky; her sister, Shasta (Paul, Jr.) Ashby of Charlotte, North Carolina; her special uncle, Roger Wells of Kings Mountain, North Carolina; her three adored nephews, Caleb, Gabriel, and Zachary Ashby; and her beloved cat, Styles.
