Sharyl Jean Miller

1943 — 2026

McPherson, KS

Sharyl Jean Miller, 82, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 25, 1943, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Charles “Chuck” Edward and Vivian Nadean (Shafer) Johnson. Sharyl graduated from McPherson High School in 1961. On April 24, 1965, she married Leonard “Lenny” Leo Miller, Jr. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in McPherson. Their marriage of nearly 61 years was blessed with three children: Marcy, Tim, and Todd.

Sharyl worked at McPherson Bank & Trust and Pioneer Savings & Loan before becoming office manager at Redigas, Inc., where she devoted 37 years of service. She was also a member of the McPherson American Legion Auxiliary. Known for her pleasant nature and quick humor, Sharyl possessed a remarkable memory, easily recalling phone numbers and birthdays of those she cared about. She loved country music and dancing the two-step, a joy she shared with her children and grandchildren. She found delight in baking, especially her cinnamon rolls and cookies that her family cherished, and she was gifted with a needle and thread, often mending clothes for her loved ones and sewing many of Marcy’s garments when she was young.

She is survived by her husband, Lenny, of the home; her children, Marcy Davenport (Bill), Tim Miller (Anji), and Todd Miller, all of McPherson; her brother, Kevin Johnson (Eileen) of McPherson; her brother-in-law, Ron Freidenberger of Bentonville, Arkansas; ten grandchildren, Megan Werts (Taylor), Seth Davenport (Theresa), Courtney Hunt, Garett Miller (Bree), Marisa Lott (Tanner), Quenten Miller (Brenda), Teagan Miller (Britney), Chelsea Glidden (Tyler), Tanner Young (Elissa), and Cody Young; 30 great-grandchildren; and many extended relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chuck and Vivian Johnson, and her sister, Sheila Freidenberger.
