December 24, 1939— March 9, 2026
Cottonwood Heights, UT
Sharron Taylor Rushton, 86, of Cottonwood Heights, Utah, passed away on March 9, 2026. Born in Salt Lake City on her father’s birthday in 1939, she spent her first year in a tiny mining house in Mercur, Utah, before the family moved through Magna, Tooele, and Hunter. At age five, her brother Jed arrived, and she lovingly helped care for the energetic boy while their parents worked.
In 1958, while attending Cyprus High School, Sharron met Clark Sylvester Rushton at a sleigh-riding event. A few months later he proposed, and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 5, 1958. The couple built a home in Hunter where they lived for sixty years and raised their three children, Shane, Carrie, and Darin. Sharron was known for her intelligence, beauty, and creativity. She had a remarkable head for math, enjoyed reading financial magazines, and dabbled in the stock market. She also loved to knit, sew, decorate, walk barefoot, and watch her favorite crime shows.
For more than thirty years, Sharron and Clark ran their own brick business together, with Sharron’s meticulous bookkeeping keeping everything in order. In 1987 she began working at Fred A. Moreton & Company, where she spent seventeen years as a bond expert alongside her daughter Carrie and daughter-in-law Susan. Later in life, she and Clark enjoyed traveling the world, reaping the rewards of decades of hard work.
Sharron was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clark and her parents, Alden H. Taylor and Doris Davis Orlando. She is survived by her children Shane (Susan) Rushton, Carrie (Doug) Adams, and Darin (Brenda Stoney) Rushton, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and her brother Jed Taylor.
