Royal Oak, MI
Sharon Marie Adams, born in Detroit to Milre and Edsel O’Brien, passed away on March 12, 2026, at the age of 93. A proud daughter of a Detroit Police Officer, she attended Saint Benedict’s and spent her youth playing baseball in the neighborhood streets and enjoying summers in Clare, Michigan, fishing and rowboating with her family. Up north remained one of her favorite places, connecting her to the Irish ancestors who had immigrated there. In 1956, she married William Adams, and together they built a home in Detroit, forming lifelong friendships with their neighbors and hosting legendary themed parties filled with costumes and memorable stories.
Sharon was a devoted mother to Bill, Nancy, Susan, and John. She filled their childhoods with care and energy—hosting friends up north, driving the family van on field trips, typing papers late into the night, and teaching young children how to golf—always placing her children’s needs before her own. Her deep faith served as the foundation of her life and shaped the values she passed on to her family. Her 49-year marriage to Bill, until his death, reflected her steadfast devotion, loving nature, and commitment to her husband and children.
Creative, engaging, and active, Sharon brought her talents to everything she did, from making homemade Halloween costumes and organizing unforgettable parties to supporting the family’s real estate business while raising her children. Her competitive spirit shone on the tennis courts, at the bridge table, and especially on the golf course, where she earned a 13 handicap and competed at the district level. She and Bill cherished weekends up north with family and friends, traveled across America, Europe, and Asia, and enjoyed many couples’ golf outings. New York held a special place in her heart, where she created lasting memories with her children and grandchildren.
Sharon cultivated beautiful friendships throughout her life within the Parkside community, the Shrine Community, Red Run Golf Club, her bridge groups of 45 years, the Village Club, her Ringers, and her book clubs. Known for her kindness, wit, charm, and beauty, she touched countless lives as a true and loyal friend. Her legendary golf swing will be remembered, but Sharon O’Brien Adams herself remains the true legend.
She is survived by her loving children, William J. Adams (Marjorie), Nancy Scott, Susan Eperjesy (Mark), and John Adams; cherished grandchildren Kristen Bolitho (James), William D. Adams (Katie), Kate Scott, Mitchell Scott, Annie Richard (Michael), and Emily Eperjesy; and caring great-grandchildren Allison, Claire, Molly, William P., Connor, and baby Richard. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband William E. Adams, her brother Tom O’Brien (Mary), and her sister Patricia O’Brien.
