Sharon Lynn Elbin

August 26, 1964 March 12, 2026

Needmore, PA

Sharon Lynn Elbin, 61, of Needmore, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 12, 2026, after a courageous ten-year battle with dementia, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of her high school sweetheart, Craig R. Elbin, for 39 years.

Above all, Sharon was a loving and devoted mother to her three children: daughters Bailey Elbin Strait (husband Colton) and Marley Elbin Baker (husband Zane), and son Tanner R. Elbin. She was a proud grandmother to Royce Strait, Brooks Baker, Rollins Strait, and Baby Baker who is on the way. Sharon was the adoring older sister of Rocky Smith and cherished numerous nieces and nephews.

Born on August 26, 1964, in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, Sharon was the daughter of Larry R. and Doris (Chesnut) Smith. She graduated as valedictorian of the Southern Fulton High School class of 1982 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business administration management from Shippensburg University in just three years. She began her career as an automobile insurance underwriter for State Farm in Frederick, Maryland, before becoming a self-employed State Farm agent in Hancock, Maryland, for 28 years. Known for her generosity, compassion, and unwavering availability to her clients, Sharon lived the principle “Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there” through her dedicated service and selfless heart.

Beyond her professional life, Sharon was an active member of the Hancock Rotary Club, Beta Sigma Phi, and a devoted member of the Hancock United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She found joy in gardening and planting flowers at the family home, Polaris rides, evening walks, boat rides, playing the piano and singing, and spending summers at Surfside Beach, South Carolina. She also cherished simple pleasures such as a twist ice cream cone and her ever-present Diet Coke, but most of all she treasured time spent with her beautiful family.

Her family wishes to thank the caring staffs of Somerford House and Place and Viva Senior Living in Hagerstown, Maryland, along with her personal caregivers Sharon Buterbaugh, Jennifer Youngblood, and Mary Rhodes, for the love and compassion they showed Sharon.
