Sharon Kay Cannon
November 27, 1957— March 11, 2026
Clarendon, TX
Sharon Kay Cannon, 68, of Clarendon, Texas, passed away on March 11, 2026. Born on November 27, 1957, in Clarendon to Wesley Monroe and Mary Catherine (Johnson) Ford, Sharon was a lifelong resident who cherished her hometown and the deep family roots that anchored her there.
In 1974, she married the love of her life, James Rickey Cannon. The couple shared 51 devoted years together. Though they moved away from Clarendon three times, Sharon’s strong pull to family always brought them home. She spent many years in the restaurant industry, working as a waitress and cook, and took special pride in operating the family restaurant, Country Kitchen, alongside her father for 27 years. After retiring, she focused her days on caring for her grandchildren and supporting her husband with daily errands and household needs. Her family, particularly her grandchildren, remained the bright center of her life.
Sharon enjoyed gambling and riding motorcycles with Rickey, creating many cherished memories on the road together. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley Monroe Ford and Mary Catherine (Johnson) Ford.
She is survived by her loving husband, Rickey Cannon of Clarendon; three daughters, Renee Shadle and husband Michael of Clarendon, Kristi Marshall of Houston, and Gina Cannon; daughter/granddaughter Ashley Cannon of Clarendon; three sisters, Terri Hommel of Abilene, Elaine Boozer of Georgetown, and Pat Ritchie and husband Mike of Clarendon; three grandchildren, MiKayla Milbrun and husband David of Denison, Texas, Nicholas Shadle and wife Phara of Clarendon, and Nathan Shadle and wife Harley of Clarendon; two great-grandchildren, Rowynn Milbrun of Denison and Teal Wade Shadle of Clarendon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
