Sharon K. Fontenot

Sharon K. Fontenot, 81, of Eunice, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. Born on December 22, 1944, in Eunice to the late Kit and Joyce Fontenot, Sharon lived a life marked by deep faith, community leadership, and unwavering commitment to her values.

A longtime Eunice city councilwoman and president of the Eunice Chamber of Commerce, Sharon also owned Coastal Culvert until her retirement. For 53 years she worked tirelessly in support of the right to life, earning recognition at the Bishop’s Pro-Life Rose Dinner for her dedication to unborn children. She found joy in traveling, attending daily Mass, cheering for LSU baseball, and most of all, spending time with those she loved.

She is survived by her son, Tommy Fontenot Jr. and wife Gwen of Eunice; daughters, Angelle Manuel and husband Hayward of Eunice, and Suzanne Mayer and fiancé Vern Johnson of Prairieville; brother Gary Fontenot and wife Paula of Austin, Texas, and Kevin Fontenot and wife Pat of Carencro; sister Doris Brown and husband Bobby of Eunice; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and two on the way; as well as extended family and many friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Tommy Fontenot Sr.; her son Randy Fontenot; her parents, Kit and Joyce Fontenot; and her grandson Jacob Vige.
