Sharon Bartling

Spearfish, SD

Sharon (Vedder) Bartling, 76, passed away peacefully in Spearfish, South Dakota on March 12, 2026.Sharon was born on April 29, 1949 to Edmund and Geraldine Vedder in San Francisco, California. She grew up in San Francisco and graduated from Lowell High School. She was working at AAA mapping trips when she met the love of her life. Barton and Sharon were married October 19, 1968 at Travis Air Force Base. In 1970, they moved to South Dakota. They milked cows until they bought the meat shop at Union Center in 1978. Bart and Sharon provided custom meat processing for the community until they retired in 2023.Sharon had an amazing sense of humor; we will miss her sharp wit and sarcasm. She was a very hard worker. Along with working at the shop, she would also help with the mail and the local store at Union Center, and was on the census team for several years. One of her passions was genealogy. She enjoyed finding new branches and connecting to people from around the country. She was a die-hard San Francisco Warriors fan. A few years ago she enjoyed a game in Denver with the grandkids. Her family was everything to her. She loved her grandchildren dearly. Even if she could not attend, she kept up with what the grandkids were doing. Spending time with all of them and her sister, Diane, this last Christmas was special. She is survived by daughters, Danielle (Shad) Hunt of Spearfish, and Denise (Chet) Dobbs of Wellington, CO, daughter-in-law Hilarie (Scantling) Bartling of Wellington, CO; five grandchildren, Jazmyn Hunt, Trey Dobbs, Izabella Bartling, Jaden Hunt, and Gabbie Bartling; sister Bev (Ed) Zammit, sister Diane (Jeff) Kranitsky, and sister-in-law Mareth Vedder; brother-in-law Martin Bartling (Susan), sister-in-law Terry Ann Whitmyre; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Barton, son John, her parents Edmund and Geraldine (Meigs) Vedder; and brother Ronald Vedder. The children of Bart and Sharon will hold a Celebration of Life for both parents this summer.Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapels and Isburg Crematory of Spearfish.
