Shannon Roberson ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Lowell-Tims Funeral Home And Crematory - Altus on Mar. 13, 2026.Shannon "Suzie" Roberson, 80, entered into her heavenly rest on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in Altus.Suzie was born on May 23, 1945, in Olustee, Oklahoma to Ina Spradlin Rafferty. She was raised by her grandparents, Burl and Pearl Spradlin, of Duke, Oklahoma. Many years were spent on the Spradlin farm with some of her favorite cousins. Suzie attended Duke School and later married her high school sweetheart, Gary Dale "Giz" Roberson August 31,1963 at Duke First Baptist Church. Of this union, their son, Rex, was born in April of 1964. Suzie went on to further her education at the Altus Junior College, where she received her associates degree. She then went on to Cameron University in Lawton, earning her bachelor's degree in early childhood education.Suzie taught in the Altus school system for thirty years, teaching kindergarten at Central, aka Booker Kindergarten, and Eugene Field, where she was teacher of the year in 2000. Earl Booker and Bob Kirk were two of her favorite principals. During her summer months, you would find Suzie riding her mare, Sugar, in several playday events, dominating in the rings. She would help during wheat harvest where needed and worked alongside her husband and son working cattle. After the passing of her husband in April of 1992 and retiring from teaching, Suzie made a move to Farmington, New Mexico. There she continued to teach kindergarten on the Navajo reservation. She loved telling her family about her experiences with the Navajo culture. While in New Mexico, she joined a biker gang, The Christian Motorcycle Association. Suzie's gift was not only teaching her students but traveling about and spreading the Word of Christ. After spending five years in Farmington, New Mexico and riding her motorcycle all through Colorado, the changing of colors were her favorite to see. Suzie moved back home to Altus. Her family was growing and she didn't want to miss out on teaching, reading and spending time with her great grandbabies. As much as her grandkids gave her joy, those greats were the absolute light of her life. Suzie devoted most of her time between church and family. She taught her Adult Women Sunday School class and played dominoes on Tuesday's. Suzie lived life to the fullest and will be missed immensely. She molded, provided, listened, and taught her family with extreme patience and guidance. She will be missed dearly and We could not be more proud to call her our "Nan!" We love you, More! She was preceded in death by her mother; husband; and a sister, Kay.Survivors include her son, Rex Roberson and wife, Lisa; two grandchildren, Brad Roberson and wife, Megan, and Tricia Duncan and husband, Drew; and four great grandchildren, Kayden Duncan, Dayton Duncan, Maverick Roberson, and Crew Roberson. The Roberson family will receive friends from 3:00 - 5:00 PM Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
