Sr. Jeanne was the fourth child of Louise and William Tighe of Cleveland Hts., Ohio. Her brother, Bill (deceased) (Barbara, deceased) and sisters, Mary Ann Tighe King (Frank) and Marlene Tighe (deceased) were long-time residents of Cleveland Heights. Sr. Jeanne was a graduate of Beaumont School for Girls, and holds a Bachelor of Education from CSU and a Masters in Religious Studies from John Carroll University. She was a published author, teacher and speaker on the local and national levels. She was the co-author of Rethinking Adult Religious Education. She was the Director of Adult Education and Liturgy at the Church of the Gesu for over 40 years where she taught scripture and religious education sessions for teachers and parishioners. She conducted conferences in faith formation and scripture on the Diocesan and national levels. Sr. Jeanne was a consultant to the Detroit Province Jesuit Development Office and John Carroll University. She served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Jesuit Retreat Center, and the Irish American Archives of the Western Reserve Historical Society.Sr. Jeanne was a member of the Sisters for Christian Community since 1975. Jeanne began teaching at St. Ann School for seven years, then went on to teaching science and math at Gesu School for seven years. The next 30-plus years she served as a staff member of Gesu Parish.Sr. Jeanne is survived by her dear friend and colleague, Sr. Dianne Selva, SFCC and her sister, Mary Ann King, along with dozens of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Her many family members and friends were the treasure of her life. We are grateful for the love, support and encouragement given to Sr. Jeanne on her journey home to God.Donations in Sr. Jeanne's memory can be made to The Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland or the McAuley Scholarship Fund to help Gesu elementary school children.The Mass of Christian Burial will be at The Church of the Gesu on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. The Mass will be live streamed on the funeral home website: murphyfamilyfuneralhome.com.
